Question

Pond Eggs?
Can you tell mne if the attached photo is of some kind of egg or algae? If it is eggs, can you tell me what kind they are?

Thank you,
Linda

Answer
Thank you for including a picture.  It appears to be filamentous green algae.  The bubbles are pockets of trapped gasses.  For future reference, eggs can be tricky to identify.  They are usually only a potential problem when they are fertilized.  You can tell that they are fertilized when there is a small black dot in the middle of the egg.  It will typically be a fish, frog, or snail and will almost always be found un a leaf or other fairly solid surface.
