Questionhello ma'am, why to add water to prepare a bran mash? cant horses eat dry bran? how much quantity of water to add?
AnswerHi Rohit,
Thank you for your question. Adding water to a bran mash makes it easier for the horse to swallow and prevents the bran from swelling in the horse's throat if fed dry (although this is less of a concern with bran than it is with soya hulls or oat hulls). You don't want the bran to be too soupy, but more like a moist paste. Add a little water at a time until you get a pasty consistency.
Thanks, Corlena
