Question
Hello,
We have 7 healthy 2-week-old ratties.  We have found nice homes for some of them & would like to find out which ones are boys/girls.  I read somewhere that the males do not have nipples --- correct??  It appears to me that ALL of our 7 have nipples!!  My husband doesn't believe me that all 7 could be girls.  Can you help us?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Heather

It is possible that the entire litter is all girls, but just to be sure, instead of describing it, I will give you a link where you can compare pictures of the babies genitals at various stages of development.

And yes, females have nipples, males do not. Males do, however, have mammary tissue but, as you stated above, no nipples.

Here is the link to my website, below. There are some good pictures that you can use for comparison.

Check out the precious little tails on the newborn pups in these photos, too. They are just adorable!

Hope this helps!!
