BITING RATS!!!

Question
I recently purchased 3 female rats from a local pet store. The one is awesome, sweet and has never bit me. The other 2 bite. 1 of the "biters" calmly bites if you are close enough (even out of her cage), while the other "biter" lunges at me and has drawn blood. Now I don't trust either of them, especially the one who has bitten me hard. I have a 14 day guarantee from the store, which 14 days is up in 2 days... should I return the 2 biters and get a baby girl from a breeder? should i return the meanest one? The nice one doesn't seem too attached to the others. She doesn't sleep with them, but they do wrestle. Please help me decide what I should do. Thank you.

Answer

Truthfully?  I would not return none of them.  They will toss the biter rats in the feeder bin and they will be eaten by snakes. I know your scared to be bitten, trust me, this is part of my livelihood, I have taken alot of bites over the years. I even took on a wild female rat that bit me so bad I have nerve damage in two fingers.  BUT.......there is always a but, isnt there?  I taught her that this was not acceptable, but this only happened after she trusted me.  A week later, Holly was a real sweetie to the point people accused me of switching rats, no way was this the same demon that lunged after me and bit me as hard as she could.

You have to feel sorry for them and stop being scared. They pick up on this and it makes them even more insecure.  They are not mean, they are terrified of you and dont want you to hurt them so they are telling you in the only way they know how that th ey are scared of you by biting you to keep you away.

I do have to ask, did they have these females in with males at any time?  This is important but I wont tell you why until I hear from you first.

Check out my website on how to train biting rats and you will learn to better understand them. They will be like marshmallow rats in your hands when your done, I promise you.
