Question
i have had my mouse for 2 years now and within the last 6 months i noticed him loosing hair. i thought it was because he was beside a window and thought he got a sunburn. but months later his fur is still really patchy. then tonight i looked at his eye and its very swollen and dark. since the vet is closed for the day.. i was wondering is there ANYTHING i can do for him to help until tomorrow.
thanks

Answer
2 years is a very good age for a mouse and hair loss and eye problems are particularly common in old mice. You may be able to get some ointment for his eye that will help from the vet. Move his cage to a darker area as direct sun can be stressful for mice. If he has been kept by himself then he is probably depressed as mice are social creatures and need the company of other mice. However, perhaps you shouldn't get him a friend as I'm not sure he will be around for much longer - he is such an old man already!

I hope the vet can help. Please feel free to ask any more questions.
