taking babies from mouse/putting mothers together

Question
Hi
I have just taken the babies all 15 of them away from the mother as they are now 6 weeks old and off to the pet shop for sale, I am just wondering if the mother mouse will fret and miss her babies and also is it ok to put her in with another mum and her babies or is this dangerous for the bubs
Many thanks Sue

Answer
Dear Sue,

The recent mother mouse will probably be very happy to help the second mouse with her babies. Do watch carefully, however, that there is no fuss-- if the current mother gets upset, the babies may be in danger.  It is very unlikely that the recent mother would have any issues with the babies herself.

Good luck : )
