Question
Hi Natasha, I found 4 baby mice in my shed with no mom.  3 of them died but 1 is still alive and my son & I want to save him.  His mouth is not open so how can we feed him? I put him in a little box with a soft cloth. Thanks

Hi,

His mouth will open. He might be scared. I would really like a picture,

Are you on Facebook? If so, friend me:

For now, you will be doing this:

You want to get some kitten replacement formula and dilute it by half with pedialyte. You are going to start by feeding him  every two hours absolutely around the clock. . You can try an eyedropper, a clean watercolor paintbrush, or even let him lick off of your hand. Feed him  as much as he will take and then try five minutes later to see if he will take a little more. He will have a little white band around his belly where you can see the milk inside.

Then you need to toilet him. The best thing seems to be a tiny sponge eye shadow brush. You can also use your pinky. The advantage to that is you know what his normal tummy  feels like and will notice if it changes. You rub his lower abdomen, genitals, and anus. Sometimes it can take a bit of time. You will establish a rhythm I am sure. It is terrific to massage him in general too.

You need to keep him warm. A hot water bottle is great. You can also improvise with a bag of frozen vegetables heated in the microwave. Wrap it in a couple of towels and make absolutely sure he can't burn.

There are ten helpful videos here. They just messed up the link darn it. They were  Raising a Baby Mouse 1/10 through 10/10 but anyway most of them are still there. You will have to scroll down to find these:
