20 month old male neutered Aussie

Question
Vinnie's Mom was barking and we couldn't get near her as we were told she had just bitten someone. When we checked the Pedigree after the fact, the Sire's side was from the Peach Creek line and known for bad tempernmant, something I didn't know at the time. In fact his Great Grandfather Lethal Weapon was put to sleep at 6 for biting, although was shown and bred many others. The very poor backyard breeder had us pick him up under 7 weeks when I wanted him kept there thil 8 weeks, and he saw all his siblings go before we took him.

Needless to say, our Aussie is aggressive.  Even with puppy training and a personal trainer at 8 months, we still can't let people in the house.  He is very friendly with other dogs and their owners, but not anyone without a dog.  He will lunge at any one, and is Extremely territorial.  Especially at the house and in the car.

We need to know the best way to manage him.  Books are great, but it is hard to train him just from books.  I'd appreciate a reply. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Bev
GEESSSS, this is truly bad breeding. This breed is not known to be like this?
Being bred so badly will take a behavioral specialists to help you out.  Personally, I do not keep dogs with bad temperments, this is most likely why I am a successful breeder of great puppies with super tmeperments that leave at 8 weeks old.
This breeder should be turned in for breeding junk dogs with bad temperments.  The AKC might like to hear from you?
I really do not know what to tell you since he has been like this to 20 months old.  I feel badly for the dog as its in his genes to be like this.  The only pure suggestion is to confine him and be most careful that you do not get a dog bite legal matter, it can be quite expensive to settle.
You might also want to try a shock collar on him, not the barking one but the training one at www.drsfostersmith.com?
That is the only alternative I know that might work, when he lunges at a person lay a good one on him, when he stops, then pet and praise.  If he has any brains he will find that doing this hurts and will quit!  It is a great investment to make of about $140.00 if it stops him and it should.
Please let me know and turn this bad breeder in.

Kind Regards
Patt
