adopting older cocker

Question
Hi...I am considering adopting one or more older cocker spaniels. They are between 3 and 7 yrs old. Their owner is s breeder who has cancer and can no longer care for the dogs. I wanted to find out if they would have a problem being alone for about 6 hours a day in 10x8 room with food and water...will this cause a problem with them? Should I leave them with a neigbor who has volunteered to "dog-sit" during the day while I am at work?

Answer
Hi Christy well what can i say! How very very kind of you to take in two older dogs, i am sure they will repay you with love affection and loyalty and honestly Cockers are just the beeeeest dogs.
Well firstly are the dogs used to being together if the answer is yes then i dont think you will have a problem, however as your neighbour has kindly offered to dog sit, it might be an idea to let her pop in to check on the dogs while they get used to their new home, if you let her have the dogs with her they may get a little confused as to where they actually live, once settled in their new surroundings it would be okay but for a while i would let her pop in to your home, but thats up to you im sure they would be okay either way.
As long as your dogs get plenty of attention and excercise im sure they will be fine.
If you want help with anything else and i can help or just have someone to chat too dont hesitate to contact me.
Good luck with your dogs, oh by the way what sex are they?
Best Wishes
