Question
I have a 15 year old cocker spaniel who is doing her business outside, however shortly after she comes into the house she has a number 2 and sometimes right in front of me. What should I do, or change?

Sincerely,
Love my Cocker.

Answer
Is this the only thing she appears a little confused or forgetful about, Shannon?

Instead of just letting her out, I'd start taking her to be sure she's finished.  If weather permits where you are, even a lot of short little 5 minute walks.

I'd also be feeding her 3x a day since smaller meals on easier on a senior's digestive system.  As with puppies, routine is your friend with an older dog and exercise is still very important.  Of course it won't be the brisk walks she used to do..but just being out, stimulated and "moving" is very good for her.  How far and how fast is unimportant..just let her amble around at her pace.

If the forgetfulness gets worse you could try a Choline supplement or a med called Anipryl.  I wouldn't hesitate to try her on Choline now since it "can't hurt - might help" and if you decide to do that, let me know and I'll check my files for dosage, etc.  A holistic vet would try that first before using meds.
