Question
I am 19 and i have a blue heeler. she has panic attacks when ever she thinks i am going be to leaving. I work and go to school full time. She absolutely hates being alone. She loves going on walks but if i drop the leash she'll stop and bite my pant legs until i pick the leash up again. Is there anything i can do about this? I also have another question my dog doesn't have very good eye sight so i try to keep things in the same spots but she still bumps into things every once in awhile is there anything i can do to make my house a friendlier place for her?

Answer
I would like to refer you to a couple of books that cover your main problems in detail.  The first is Patricia McConnell's "I'll Be Home Soon", which will help you deal with the dog's hatred of being alone.  For now, when you leave, don't make a big deal of departures, and change your usual routines a bit so she doesn't anticipate being left so long.  An interactive toy, such as a Buster Cube might help, too.
The second book is Caroline Levin's "Living With Blind Dogs".  She has some great hints on how to make home life easier for a visually impaired or blind dog.  Hint: scent can help - it's your dog's primary sense anyway.
