Lab urniating while playing

Question
I have a 5 month old black lab named Rocky. He is very sweet and trainable. He learned sit in about four hours. We play outside alot and while we are playing he will sometimes start peeing. We have trained him to pee in the back yard because our neighbors have a crawling baby and we don't want her crawling in dog pee. Also our neighbor has a Jack Russell who tastes Rocky's pee and then gets sick or marks over Rocky's pee. He frequently will start peeing while he is walking and he won't stop walking. I will take him to the back yard every hour to pee and he still pees in the front yard. How do I train him out of peeing in the front yard?

Answer
Dear Danielle,
Thanks for the question. If you take him to the back every hour and he still "leaks" he might have a medical issue. The first step is to have your vet check him out. Otherwise, notice when he urinates - is it in response to your play? If so,it might be classified as submissive or excitement urination - not a huge problem considering his age- visit this site for more information about excitement and submissive urination http://www.ddfl.com
Good luck!
