Third party attack

Question
I have three dogs and a general question.  Buddha-male, neutered dominant.  Maggie- spayed female, next in command.  Ouiser- male, neutered definitely the submissive one.  All have lived together for the past 4 years.  Buddha and Ouiser play well together for the most part but will occassionally get too rough and results in an attack by Buddha.  The fights have never resulted in injury and seem to be brief and self limiting.  When Buddha attacks Ouiser, Maggie feels the need to join in and attack Ouiser as well especially if he yelps.  Maggie is normally very sweet.  What is the instinctual basis that would prompt her to exhibit this behavior?

Answer
Hi Scott, You must be the dominant alpha leader in the pack at all times. Use two fingers and a firm tone to touch the scruff  of the neck of the dog who is causing the fight. Do not get into too many words or commands, a simply "no", or "AHHH" will be enough. If they do not perceive you as the pack leader, they will establish their own pack hierarchy. So you must step in and take control. If you have problems doing so, get someone experienced in canine behavior to help show you what to do. Leave me some feedback and keep me posted on how things are going. Warm Regards, Susan
