Question
I have a 5 month old yorkiepoo who is the best natured and happest dog I have ever owned. She is afraid of nothing vaccum doesnt bother her or no sounds, butsometimes when she comes to you for you to pick her up she backs off. Like when she wants on the sofa she puts her feet up and when you go to pick her up she backs off. She will do this 3 or 4 times before she finally lets you get her. I have no children at home so I know she has not been droped.  I hold my hand out easy and she still is funny about you picking her up

Answer
Picking up a dog is a demonstration of higher rank.  Your dog appears to be a fearless and confident pup who might object to this rank demonstration.  I suggest you associate STRONG reward with picking her up.  Do not pursue her; wait until she solicits interaction.  If you attempt to pick her up and she backs off, turn your back or remove yourself for several seconds, then return.  When she is finally willing to be picked up, as you do so pop a special food treat (tiny bit of cheese or turkey hot dog) into her mouth.  She will (within 20 to 30 trials, possibly sooner) begin to associate being picked up with the reward.  Once she easily allows you to pick her up, you can begin to stagger the food treat (every other time, every third, every fourth, then every time for a few, then every fifth, etc.) until she has acquired a positive conditioned response and associates being picked up with overall reward.
