Old Dog with a new puppy

Question
We have a 3 year old kerin terrier named maisie, a few days ago we bought a 8 week old yorkie. The Yorkie is very playful and wants to play with Maisie, but Maisie either runs away or growls at her with her tail wagging, how do we know if Maisie is being too aggresive or just playing and is it  possible for them to get along in the future?

The puppy may just be too much for Maisie right now and a bit too active!  Let her interact with the puppy for short bursts, preferable after you have worn the puppy out a bit first.  As Maisie gets more used to the puppy, you can increase the time spent together, making sure that if Maisie growls, the puppy responds by backing off since that is a dogs way of saying "back off"!  Imagine being an only child then suddenly this very demanding and hyper sibling comes home and won't leave you alone!  Patience and time will be your best friends.  Good Luck
