stray cat up for adoption

Question
Dear Tabbi, hope your well. Me and Diana are doing fine, like two peas in a pod. In an earlier email I had mentioned that I rescued a stray cat and turned it in to the Humane Society, they post a photo on their website when the animal is fit for adoption. I had feared they had put it to sleep, but today "Smokey" made their website! They initially thought it was a female, but it turned out to be a nuetered male, about 6-8 months old. I named it Smokey because of its coloring, gray and white. In addition to vaccinations, they cleaned him up, he was really shedding with long hair, they trimmed him, he looks so handsome. Now he has a chance of finding a good home. Also, I have decided to volunteer at the Humane Society, at least a few days a week. Who knows, maybe it will turn into a paying gig. Best Regards, John~~

Answer
John and Diana,

That is good news about Smokey! Maybe HE was spared for a reason and can help someone else. I hope so!

You are braver than I would be helping out at the Humane Society. It's a wonderful thing to do to help out, but it would be too heartbreaking for me. I would want to take them ALL home! And you would get to know some of the kittys and then find out they are going to (or were) put to sleep. I couldn't do it. It would be too sad. It would be great for you if it DID turn out to become a regular job. I hope so.

Note: Be prepared that you will be bringing home numerous animal smells on your clothing from handling the animals so Diana may spend half her time sniffing you. She May get huffy about them, but then again, she may be happy that you are helping her furry people.
