Question
QUESTION: pond 2.1 x 1.2 fibreglass I filled pond with water and put plants in noticed a few days later a haze on the water just round white  spots on surface which every now and again seem to jump they realy showed up in sunlight have emptied three times but thy are there even in shallow water help  I have even conntacted uni to no avail regards william

ANSWER: Who is "uni?"  The white jumping animals might be springtails which are common in the spring.  Aphids may also hop all over the surface but usually aren't white.  If the white spots aren't animals but just debris that seems to jump for whatever reason, the white things could be pollen, dirt, potting media, etc.  What did you use to pot up the plants?  Can you send photos of the white things?  I doubt they'd show up well though.

Good luck!

QUESTION: uni is university I spoke to the entamology ??? professor I did use potting mix for plants and they are springtails  how can I stop the infeststion I have been putting a small amount of water in pond and taking spots which I deduce are small fry out < when I first started to scoop them out with a container I had black dust which may have been shells> regards william in desperation

Answer
You spoke to the entomology professor.  He didn't know what they were?

Did you use a potting mix for terrestrial or house plants or for pond plants?  If it was for terrestrial or house plants, it will have too many nutrients and things in it that you don't want.  Those things may float or cause problems with algae or clarity.  If that's the case, I suggest repotting either with a pond "soil" (clay) or clay soil topped with pea gravel.

You have fry?  Are there adult fish in there?  What kind of shells do you think you have?  The black dust could be from the potting media.
