Question
I have a big problem with blanketweed in my pond which is about 80 squAre
meters.  Can you help?
Many thanks

Answer
Hey Peter the first thing I will do is explain blanketweed or string algae.Number one the fish love it and it is good for fry. It usually occurs when the pond is shallow and it is getting to much light. Rule of thumb is 6-8 hours a day no more. Also caused by to much calcium in water and the water is too alkaline. Now there are a couple of things you can do.1.Nothing and just scoop it out when there is too much,2. Provide more shade, plant tree etc. 3.Dye the water blue,I know farmers who do this to there farm ponds 4. You can buy this stuff called Blanc-kit made just for this with no harsh chemicals .Type blanketweed or string algae into google and it will take you to a place that sells it. I hope I have helped. Thanks Eric
