Question
my convict are dark grey with black stripes.  I placed them in a different tank so they can be alone and breed.  I know they were ready.  They became very pale and i want to know why ?

Answer
Dear Jennifer,
It's normal for many fish, particularly cichlids, to become pale or behave differently when placed in a new tank and a new enviroment. It can take just a day or so or even sometimes a couple of weeks for the fish to resume it's normal behavior and/or coloration. Convicts are pretty tough and adaptable little critters so they shouldn't take much longer than a day to a couple of days to settle down and resume their spawning rituals. Make sure you have a good amount of spawning sites for the convicts and I can bet that you'll have baby cons very soon!

I hope this helps!
Karen~
