Hello Carolyn.

There is not "set age" for any bird to start talking, but the younger the bird, the easier it will be to teach it to talk.

I was told that my Amazon Parrot started talking when he was 6 months old (I do not know this to be a fact.  I've had him for a year and a half and I do know that he is 18 years old now).

My male cockatiel (Sniffles) started talking when he was about 8 months old.
It really depends on the individual bird.  Some are ready earlier than others.
