Why should I warm a horse up before a lesson?

Dear Kate,
Your horse nees to be warmed up for the same reason any athelete needs to warm up before a race, a game or competition. Your horse's muscles, tendons and ligaments need to be slowly "brought on line." Without a proper warm up- you risk injury.
