Blackened tail tips

Dear Tamarah,
My name is Salami and I am from India. Very recently i have bought two white mouse one male and one female. I have been noticing that both have actually bitten very badly on the tip of there tail and it has become blackish. Can you suggest me some home remedy for this as i am very worried for them. and also i love them a lot so wanted to know if they are in pain or something. Waiting for an reply.

Hi there,

When the tip of the tail turns black, it means that part is already dead.  It should fall off on its own eventually and not cause any problems.  Since that section of tail is already dead, they won't feel any pain when this happens.

Did they bite each other, or did they come that way?  If they're causing damage to each other they should be separated, and kept in different cages.  You should probably do this anyways, unless you want baby mice, since they are different genders and the male will impregnate the female very quickly and continue to do so until he is removed.
