Question
hi
i raised four baby mice up to 2 and a half weeks old, but i have no idea how to introduce them to solid foods,do i just hold them over some formula to practice lick it up? then go from there? still feed them formula till 4 to 5 weeks?

Answer
Hi Ashley,

Baby mice pretty much wean themselves.  Everyone loves formula, so the real test is when you see all of them eat AND drink on their own.  At that point you can stop supplementing and let them feed and hydrate themselves (unless, of course, you notice anyone losing weight).  This usually happens around 3-4 weeks.  You can just leave dry food in the cage and put in a water bottle - they are very exploratory at this age and will figure it out on their own when they are ready.  :)
