Question
I have a Lhasa also who gets very aggressive at times especially when he goes in his kennel. He does OK until we close the door then its scary. His brother is the total opposite. Any suggestions. We have tried giving him treats when we put him in there to no avail. He hasn't always been that way just started recently. He also starts bad fights with his brother. They are so different. Any suggestions would be very appreciative.  Thank you.

Answer
Google "litter mate syndrome" - if these dogs are litter mates, that could be part of the problem.  Also, how old are the dogs?  If they are in the one year age range, they could be sorting out who's going to be the more powerful in the household.  Sometimes, if humans don't intervene, that type of fighting stops once they figure it out.  However, when you say "bad fights" is there any physical damage to either dog?  Most males fight ritualistically and don't puncture one another, which is why I asked -to judge the severity of what's going on.  Any time a dog exhibits sudden and uncharacteristic aggression, however, my first recommendation is to get a complete checkup at the vet so that you can rule out any physical cause.  Even in young dogs, there can be things wrong that cause them to be testy.  Joint problems, vision problems, hypothyroidism, etc.  It's hard to tell what's going on without seeing the dogs, but I would say that you should get an experienced trainer or behaviorist to help you sort this out before it escalates, and certainly do so if the dogs are already injuring one another.
