Specific ABT Allergy Questions

Question
I have seen many references to PBT allergies, and my sister-in-law said someone told her they have food allergies, specifically to chicken & corn (I think) and also to many grasses.
My poor little guy for sure has allergies, he chews on his skin & his eyes are red. We switched him to a different kind of food, and give him Benedryl with has really helped.
I just wanted to ask someone who knows the breed if they could confirm which allergies the ABT is prone too.  I know you have not seen my actual dog, and I am not going to hold you to a 'diagnosis', I just wanted someone to give me an idea of allergies the ABT's suffer from.
Thanks!!!

Answer
There really isn't any concrete evidence (not that I am aware of, anyway) to suggest that APBTs are more prone than other breeds to be allergic to one thing or another. It seems like, at least when it comes to allergies, that they really are no different than any other breed of dog. With that said, here is a list of things that dogs in general can commonly be allergic to. Keep in mind that this is not a complete list, nor is it meant to say that ALL dogs are allergic to the things found on this list. These are just the more common allergens.

1) Contact with insects, like bee stings and flea saliva. (Sometimes dogs can actually be allergic to the saliva left on them when they are bitten by a flea.)
2) Inhalant allergens- like tobacco smoke, air fresheners, perfumes, pollen, mold spores, chemicals, etc.
3) Foods containing soy, milk, eggs, wheat, corn, and chicken.
4) Surface items like some carpets, grass, plastic, etc.

Like I said, this is not an all-inclusive list, just a list of the more common reaction-causing allergens.
