Question
i am looking to purchase a cocker spaniel female that is 14 weeks old, her mom is very small weighs 18 pounds and has had 2 litters. each litter she produced 2 pups. the pup we want to purchase is only 6 pounds 5 ounces at 14 weeks. she is show potential, and vt checked says all is great, but just concerned that she is so tiny. is this normal for a pup of this breed to be this small at 14 weeks?

Answer
Lisa, is the other pup in the litter this small?  And, if you're buying this dog to show and it turns out she doesn't make the 13 12" height at the withers she'll be penalized.

If this is a responsible breeder you should have info on the sire also.

From a general health point of view I wouldn't worry since the Mother is extremely small and is the size of a 6 or 7 month old cocker.  So the puppy's size would not be a concern and is undoubtedly "normal" for her.  What I do doubt is you have "show potential" here.

As a pet, you'll just have a perfectly beautiful but small cocker.  If you do get her let me know and we can chat about what to feed.  One size does not fit all and cockers do not do well on kibble.
Best of luck,
Delores
