Aussie hates the collar!

I have an 8 month old male black tri aussie which is a velcro dog. I have tried several times since he was 3 months old to put a collar on him. He rolls over, acts like I have committed a violent act! I leave it on for 5 minutes or so, hoping he will adjust, but when I take it off, I praise him, he then takes off and pouts. I have also tried to attach a leash, he fights it and again hides and won't forgive me for along time. How do I get him collar and leash trained. I want to take him everywhere with me, he is a good boy, but I want him trained. Hope you can help. Thank You.

Use food!!!  When you are going to put the collar on, let him lap some cheez whiz off your fingers, or some peanut butter (that keeps him busy for a few seconds!).  Or, just feed some nice treats on the floor so that he can pick them up while you clip the collar on.  He is probably thinking of this as a negative experience, but some scrumptious food that only comes out when the collar does might change his mind.  You won't have to do it forever, only until he gets used to it.  Also, don't praise him when you take the collar off!!!  Praise him and feed him while he has it ON.
