Older Dog losing control of Feces

Question
My dog is 13 years old and recently started releasing "poop" nuggets in her sleep and sometimes soft release as she gets up.  Is this part of aging problems?
What can I do to minimize the occurances?

This can be part of the aging process but it can also be a sign of a neurological event (such as a stroke) or other problems, so a visit to the veterinarian is necessary asap.  There are medications to control problems such as this but there are also holistic remedies.  See what the veterinarian suggests.
