Dog attacking cats

Question
My dog frequently rams herself and snaps to any nearby cats that come near me. It doesn't matter which one either. Is there a way for me to stop her from doing this? When a cat comes by she stares at it until it gets closer and attacks.. Its starting to get annoying because the cats aren't doing anything to her.

Answer
Hi Holly

it is normal dog behaviour - the cats don't need to be doing anything wrong!  You need to train your dog to listen to you and respond to a control command (such as 'down', 'leave it' or 'no') in any situation.  Take her to some obedience classes to get help with this.

If you know anyone with cats it would be helpful to get her used to being around them while getting treats or games from you to distract her.  Put a muzzle on her if there is any danger of her hurting them (and have her on a lead of course)

If she is dangerous you should muzzle her anyway as some cats aren't very quick!
