Hi Lucy

I forgot something in my last question. Buddy, the dog we found, is very
attached to me, he follows me from room to room in our apartment. I've had
him five days now, he's less than one year old. If I were to give him away,
how damaging would that be to him?? He would bond with his new owner,
right?

Yes he will bond to whoever has him, but it will be unsettling for him as he is displaying signs of insecurity by doing this with you.

Try to encourage him to remain in rooms without you if possible (try occasionally shutting a door for a few seconds) to help him cope when you have to go out without him.
