Dog Licking Floor

Question
I have a five year old male miniature dachshund who is constantly licking my laminate floors.  How can I stop this behavior?

Answer
Make sure that no odors from dropped food remain on the floors, or any other odors that dogs might find attractive.  You can try using Petastic and water to mop with - that product takes away urine, food, blood, vomit, etc. because it's an enzymatic cleaner.

Well, I'm sorry you thought my knowledge was limited, but I can tell you that vets often don't know what causes a PARTICULAR dog to lick household surfaces, and I gave you the most common cause, which is that they find something there that's appetizing.  Once you have eliminated food or other organic odors, the next step is a visit to the vet to rule out one of the serious illnesses associated with this behavior.  Here's an article that enumerates some of the culprits:http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dlick.html
Let's hope your dog is just bored, and not seriously ill.
