Question
My GSD is 18 months old and has developed the habit of chasing flies and insects.  She continually does this and I am afraid that she will have a heart attack.  It is really neurotic behavior and as the warmer weather approaches I am afraid for her.  Please help.  Thank you in advance.

Answer
Is she actually chasing insects or does she just act like that?  Dogs who exhibit "fly biting" when there really is nothing to bite at can actually be having an epileptic episode.

If she really is biting at flies, you should try re-directing her attention to something appropriate.  I also am assuming she is not a outside dog?  If you keep her inside, her exposure to flies and insects should be somewhat limited.
