Cat and Breastfeeding

Question
I have a new kitten--only about three months old.  I got him about 7 weeks after I brought my newborn son home from the hospital (the kitten is two days older than my son).  The cat seems obsessed with me--especially when I am breastfeeding.  I love that he is so affectionate; however, I find it really odd that whenever I am breastfeeding while also laying down, he comes up and starts to nuzzle, lick and paw at my breast.  He even climbs on the baby and just lies there while doing the above mentioned things (also trying to burrow his way down to my breast). He doesnt hurt the baby.  When he is laying on him he is actually nestled in the space between the babies belly and my belly (we are both laying on our sides).  Is this totall weird?  Or does my breastmilk remind me of his mother?  I should probably mention that he was still nursing off his mother when we got him because the owner didnt have the room to seperate the kittens from the mother.

Answer
Hi Cara,

I would suspect this is it as 7 weeks is too early to take a kitten away from it's mother, they generally are still nursing and without mom's natural weaning he could have 'issue's.'  I keep my kittens until a minimum of 12 wks and they are often still nursing at this point.  I would imagine your milk might smell similar to that of another mammal.  As long as it's not causing any problem you can all enjoy the cuddle time together ;)
