Question
Hi Marcia,my queen gave birth 2 weeks ago,mum is achocolate variant and the sire lilac. All 4 kittens have got pink noses and the pads are also pink. 3 of the kittens are light gray and the other one is just cream in colour. I persume that the very light cream will be actually be a cream in colour and not a veriant and the other 3 lilac. I also know that it is a bit early to say about the colours as they change as they get that little bit older. My question is, do you actually get a cream colour in asian cats or would it still be a variant? He has no other markings on him. Please, can you verify this?

Answer
Hi Edith

Congratulations on the kittens.

The genetics of Asians can be a bit complicated when it comes to colours and many breeders find they register their kittens as one colour and have to change it later - sometimes more than once.

My guess is that the 3 light grey kittens are lilacs and yes you can get a Cream Asian, but it does really depend on the carrier status of the parents.  May I suggest that you have a look at the club website http://www.asiancats.co.uk/ and then contact them if you are unsure as they will be very experienced in this field.
