B&G sudden illness with ER tx done already

Question
I have a blue and gold macaw his name is Jazz hatched on 1/28/03. He is much part of our family.
Yesterday at dinner he could no eat by picking up the food with the front of his beak but used the side of it. I took him to the vet immedfiately, who was very knowlwdgable. She put him to sleep and found nothing in the digestive systme she could assess, did a culture also placed him on atb. 2 cc daily until culture results are back, He is very tired, still eating and drinking, I just want to make sure we are on the right track. He has had 2 dose of medication and looks to me to be more active. Do you know anything else that might be the cause. vet tinks respiratory, I just want to do everything possible. I look forward to hearing from you soon

I am not a vet, so I cannot advise you in this area. However, I would recommend (if you are concerned) getting a second opinion (from another vet)... just as you or I might get a second opinion from a different doctor before deciding on a suggested surgery (as an example).  You can find qualified avian vets on these websites:
