Question
i have just recently purchased a temnih grey the bird is two years old doesnot talk and of coarse is not used to me and my family yet it was well taken care of but the previous owner was unable to give the attention the bird needs what can i do to help with vocabulary if anything since the bird is two years and what is the best advice for bonding

Answer
Did the previous caregiver of your Grey tell you s/he didn't talk? It could be that he is just being quiet while he tries to adjust. Grey's will be virtually silent unless they feel comfortable in their surroundings.

However, there is always a chance that your grey will never speak. Not all parrots, even african greys, learn to talk.

As far as bonding and building a trusting relationship with your grey... there is an article online about a parrot behavioralist's experience bonding with her nervous, "second hand" African Grey... I think her experience will help you much. You can see her article here:

This website (www.companionparrot.com) also has links for a couple of books for sale and an EXCELLENT parrot magazine. It is a high-quality magazine that focuses on larger parrots and parrot behavior. An excellent resource for any parrot caregiver.

I hope this helps.
