Parrot -Infetile eggs

Question
Our parrot just laid infertile eggs ( never mated). She is very attached to her eggs and is trying to incubate them. From a psychological point of view, what is the best way to handle this situation?

Answer
Hi, Michael.  Thanks for posting!

I admire you for asking how you should handle this for your bird's psychological welfare.  Most people don't look at it from this standpoint, but they should.

Just leave the eggs where she has laid them and let her abandon them in her own time.  She may incubate them for the full period of time, then abandon them, or she may abandon them sooner.  But let her handle this herself.  Once she abandons them, you can remove and destroy them.  Be sure she has plenty of cuttlebone (calcium) available to replenish what she may have lost from laying her eggs.
