Question
I have 2 lilac crown am.They have always had gorgeous feathers and coloring. We live in phx. They get pellets, seeds, veg. and fruit daily .One vet suggested cod liver oil on peanut butter, some type defficency. Since all that once a wk. they have picked the top back feathers out and are constantly leaving white flakes everywhere. They get aloe sprayed after their weekly bath sometimes twice a wk. They get groomed monthly. What shall I do, they even have green feathers turning gray. They are both 4yrs old. They look miserable. PLEASE HELP! Thxs

Answer
-- What do you mean by 'groomed monthly' ?

-- Also, what proportion of pellets to seeds and do the seeds include sunflower?  Perhaps peanuts?

Please stop the aloe spraying.  Use plain water only and lessen it to no more than once every 7 to 10 days.

Install a cool mist (or warm mist when the weather gets cooler) vaporizer in their area.

Get back to me with the rest of the details and let's see if we can fix this

Oh and did the vet do any testing whatsoever?
