Should I buy an Aussie?

Question
I found a 5 month old female at a reputable pet store, and am really attracted to the dog. It seems quite shy, and the employees said it took awhile for her to warm up them. It is a "hands on "store, so people are constantly with her.

Her shyness bothers me a bit, but I have read this may be common. She did warm up a bit to me after a few minutes, but there were tons of distractions in the store.
I have 4 children, all boys, ages 4,5,7 and 8. We live in the suburbs, on .55 acres, unfenced, and on a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by woods. In 2 years, the dog will be home alone, inside, during the day. There are plenty of parks around, and wooods behind our house. I plan on taking whatever dog I buy to obedience trainng, on a regular basis, from day one.

For some reason, I can't get ths dog out of my mind. She is very calm, and was curled up trying to snooze while about 12 other dogs were playing around her.

She let me hug her, and pick her up onto my lap.

Am I buying the wrong type of dog period, or the wrong dog of these breed.
Thanks!

Answer
Not to sound rude, but there is no such thing as a reputable pet store.  Sometimes they will give names of their "breeder", but that does not mean the breeder is a good one.  To supply a pet store, they have to be apply to supple the demand.  Image all the dogs this person had, getting hardly any attention, in dirty cages with hardly any health care.  I'm not exaggerating.

A 5 month old aussie, let alone ANY aussie, should not have that little of energy.  When puppies go to their new homes and are away from everything they knew, they are a little quiet and act like little angels.  But I don't know what is up with this little girl. She should have the peak of her energy now, being very rampunctious.

If you envision the perfect dog has having very little energy, you are looking at the wrong breed altogether.  But even if that's not the case, don't support these pet stores.  If you would like me to find you a reputable breeder in your area, please, contact me again and I will be glad to help!
