Question
my bishon poodle just recently lost his mate which he mated with now he is humping and following my 2 year old daughter around he is not fixed and when he does this his private is pink help please any advice he is four years old we have had him since he was a pup

Answer
Hi Carin, Many males and females will hump as a show of dominance. In the dog world is is a natural thing with both intact and neutered dogs. I train my intact males not to lick themselves, not to mount other dogs, people, furniture, toys...by telling them no and then distracting them with a bone, a walk at the heel or working on an exercise or trick. The distraction should make the "lipstick" retract back into the body and he will not follow through with the natural fluids. You certainly can train him, it will take a bit of time and persistence on your part and the part of your family members. Leave me some feedback, and follow-up if you have any further questions. Thank you for writing. Regards, Susan
