Question
hi, i have a female husky who is 18 mths and a male staff who is 5 years. I have bought a 10 mth male husky and he seems to want to fight my other dogs. We introduced the two firstly on leads and the new dog just growls and seems aggresive. I dont want to get rid of any of them but see no other option. In dyer need of help. Only came home with the new dog today, also, tried the muzzle but when he growls my staff is then growling back, which then i get scared and seperate them. Please help.

Answer
Hi Gemma,

No muzzling! If you have to muzzle to force acceptance then this is not the right situation for any of the above.

He only came home today. Take things at a much slower pace and give everyone a chance to adjust to each other's smell and sound before you start with physical introductions. You have brought an adolescent dog into an adult dogs home, it will take a bit longer than if that pup was 10 weeks old.

If you are scared, they will pick up on it, so if you are scared, conclude that you are rushing things and back off.

Pairing things that the dogs enjoy with the presence of the new dog will help too. If the only time your staffie gets steak is when that young new guy is around, he will start to perceive him as a precursor to really good things.
