Littermate Syndrome 4 month old puppies

Question
A few months ago i bought two Puggle puppies - a male and a female.  I did not know about Littermate Syndrome when i bought them and would not have done it if i had known about it.  My puggle's are now 4 months old and my female has started beating up my male, only when i am home, they do fine all day together.  I have read it is best to separate them but do not want to re-home one of them.  My parents said that they would take one for 7-8 months so they can each grow up to be there own dog and so Daisy is not so dependent on Disco.  Then when they are old enough and there own dog i would get Disco back so they can be back together.  I have read a lot about Littermate Syndrome and how you should re-home one - but what about if I can raise them separately til about a year old - then can i bring them back together?  Will the issue of fighting continue.  I want what is best for my puppies - any advise?

Answer
Hi Gina,

How do you know it's only when you are home?

Re-homing through their adolescence will not change who they are at all unfortunately. Littermates are simply cut from too similar a cloth.

Maybe your parents would consider permanently adopting Disco?
