If you are a rabbit owner, and you've tried to rent a house or apartment, then you probably know how difficult it can be to find a place that is willing to accommodate your bunnies. But you shouldn't despair! There are a few things you can do to convince reluctant landlords to allow you to rent their property along with your bunnies.

When establishing an appointment to view the property, don't mention the rabbits up front. Wait until you have established a good rapport with the landlord during the interview. Then mention the rabbits. Be sure to inform him that rabbits house train easily, and that there are things you can do to prevent your bunny from chewing on or damaging the property. Inform him that responsible pet owners tend to make excellent tenants. Also, show him that you came prepared with convincing material concerning the viability of rabbits as good house pets. Bring some literature from popular rabbit websites and have human references that can attest to the good nature of your rabbits. Your dedication to your rabbits should be a sign to him that you would make a responsible and considerate tenant. Of course, if a posting is listed as "no pets" then your chances of renting the property with your rabbits are slim to none.

These are just a few tips to help you successfully convince a landlord to allow you to rent with rabbits. Many landlords are accustomed to the thought of renting to tenants with dogs and cats, but often mentioning rabbits will throw them off. That's why its smart to do a good job of educating them about your pets and allow them to make an informed decision. Not all landlords will agree to this, of course, but with dedication and some planning, you have a good chance of convincing an open-minded landlord to allow you to rent with your rabbits.
