regurgitation

Question
I am the owner of a male eclectus parrot. He has been regurgitating his food, while looking at himself in the reflection of his water bowl. He also has elevated levels of the AST enzyme. Do you have any advice.
Thank You,
Sara

Answer
Hi Sara,

It is often quite normal for a bird to regurgitate to a loved toy, person, or in your bird's case- his reflection. However, since your bird has increased AST (which is often tied to liver disease, but not always), I would recommend calling your avian vet to make sure that the regurgitation is nothing to be concerned about.

I hope this helps... and good luck with your ekkie.
