Question
i have just rescued a dog from home which was found wandering the streets.  she is a loving and frightened dog at the moment and follows me everywhere even though i have another dog who is very gentle and they get on well. when i leave the room and close the door she scratches it, but does not bark or whine, i believe this will stop when she is more settled, but i am ignoring her at the moment, is this correct, thank you.

Answer
Yes, always ignore when she does this, as soon as you do what she wants, it will never stop.

She should settle down and will realsie that its ok when you leave the room.

Maybe try some training with her. While she is scrathing the door as normal, do nothing. When she stops come back in. Also get her used to you leaving and coming back, leave for just a few mins and return, increase the time. As I say though it should calm down anyway as she settles.
