Scared boxer puppy

Question

all my kids
We bought a 17 month old boxer from a breeder.  We've had her for 2 months.  We also have a 13 year old female boxer.  The puppy is attached to my two boys and myself. She is VERY timid and scared of people, including my husband who lives in the house, noises and other dogs (except our dog).  I assumed she need to acclimate to a human house since she had lived in a kennel (nice one) for the first 2 months of her life.  She is still scared of noises and other people. My husband's feelings are hurt!  he's very cautious when he approaches her but she still runs. She is not at all aggressive.

Answer
She's a beautiful little Brindle!

I would imagine living in a kennel and not being around people and the noises people make are foreign to her.

She didn't get socialized with other people and their noises so now, she needs to be exposed, but in a controlled way.

I would suggest introduction-exposure therapy in a control atmosphere.

What is she most scared of?

Take one thing at a time, say the television, and allow her to be next to you for a brief period of watching television. Speak calmly to her, in a reassuring voice when needed.

Have you husband come sit down beside you, slowly, and calmly speak and then pet her. Get her use to the calm times together while watching television which provides a background sound.

Slowly introduce her to another sound that scares her in a controlled and calm manner.

Continue this one at a time, maybe one per day, until she shows signs of acceptance.

Ask you husband to sit before playing with her. His size and stature might be intimidating and sitting on the floor while playing with her will be more on her level, and will build a bond.
