Question
Two days ago rescued a coco fawn pitbull puppy apprx. 3mths. old. Since we brought her home she is very frightnened, she wont move or walk around. I had to feed her by hand and give her water and pedalyte through a turkey baster until she finally took it on her own.She looks healthier but still refuses to walk around she just sits there or lays there. I know that she is capable of walking because when we picked her up from the house she seemed to be running around with another dog. Today is the third day and patience is necessary but is there anything else I can do? And why is she acting like that? Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
This is what rescue people call a "slug puppy", a puppy that has suffered emotional trauma and is reacting to absolute fear by "freezing".  Speak softly to her, don't force her to do anything, and give her several weeks to relax.  Two days is a heartbeat.  It might take months to put this puppy's fears to rest.
