Weird behaviour

My family and i have a Blue heeler cross smithfield pup, who is about seven months old, and sometimes she is very friendly and acts like any other seven month old pup would, but then other days she will just change and all  of a sudden she will be very timid, and my dad is about to get rid of her, because of how unsocial she is when she is timid, and he also thinks she might bite someone. is there anything i can do to change her attitude? It's like she is skitsophrenic.

How long has she had this behavioral quirk? That is how old was she when it started to show itself? How long have you had her? How old was she when you got her? What kinds of situations cause the behavior? Is she doing this in reaction to something someone in the family has done, or does it just come out of nowhere? Do you ever punish or scold her for anything? Has she been trained to obey any basic commands? If so, how were they trained, through treats or force or play? Do you play with her outdoors on a regular basis? Do you play fetch or tug with her?
