Cheese is also an excellent source of vitamins and minerals but is also one third protein, one third fat and one third carbohydrate. As with everything in life, moderation is the key, so enjoy a small piece of cheese or a juicy steak if that is what you fancy. We all know that we should be eating at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables but if you eat more than that, good for you. Cereals, nuts, seeds and pulses are also advantageous to good health and if you can, try to eat the 'brown' versions rather than the 'white' ones as there is more fibre available.

Taking regular exercise is very good for all of us, whether you like to walk the dog or go swimming or spend your time in a gym, make sure you are doing something that you enjoy. Exercising gets the blood pumping and this enables toxins to be taken to the liver or kidneys where they will be filtered out of the blood and excreted.

Making sure you are getting enough sleep is also important to rejuvenating your skin. If you can manage around 8 hours of sleep every night, your skin is given time to make repairs. Not enough sleep can leave the skin looking lacklustre also you will have dark circles under your eyes.

Fresh water is essential for both health and wellbeing. Drinking tea, coffee, juice, fizzy drinks or anything other than pure water does not really count and can leave you feeling dehydrated, which can be very damaging to skin health. It is recommended that you drink around 2 litres of fresh water every day. Water is great for flushing toxins out of the body and can help you feel really well. There is nothing wrong with drinking a cup of tea or coffee or even having the occasional fizzy drink, it is all about moderation.

Of course you can do all the right things regarding diet, sleep and exercise but if you do not care for your skin on the outside as well, it will be a little wasted. Proper cleansing and moisturising is also essential to having healthy skin. Use proper facial cleansers on your face and purchase a one that will suit your skin type, for instance if you have oily or dry skin you will need to use a product that suits that particular skin type. Moisturise thoroughly and always wear sunblock.
