Moustache parakeet bonding problems

Question
Dear Maggie, I am having problems with my female moustache, Sunshine, bonding with me.  She is about ten months now and I have had her for five months.  She seems to like my husband, but not me and is very hard to get out of her cage.  I am home all day with her, but still am getting nowhere and I am getting very frustrated.  My last moustache, Bubba, just passed away last year and I was so devastated.  I had him for seven years and he was given to me and we had an incredible bond and there was no sign of his illness or whatever took him away from me.  I am heartbroken that "Sunny" won't bond with me and cares more for my husband when I was the one who wanted another bird.  If you could just try to write me if you need more info, or if you can give me some advice just from what I told you please, please help.  Thank you so much, Becky

Answer
Becky,

The problem you are experiencing is a common problem with parrots. Since they have a mind of their own and will pick and choose who they like the best.

Here are some online articles that should help you work with your new moustache:

I hope this helps.

Also- was your previous moustache only 7 years old? Was he ever seen by a vet?

Here are some articles about the importance of a high-quality diet and regular visits with an avian vet (in case these weren't already provided for your late Bubba):
